Silversun Pickups - Carnavas
OK. If the band garbage and smashing pumpkins had a baby it would sound much like Silversun Pickups. Lead singer Brian Auberts’ voice is very unique. He has a very feminine voice that ranges from Eugene of Autolux to Shirley Manson of Garbage crossed with Kim Deal of the Pixies. An interesting mix for sure. The music that backs Brian is a great contrast of loud and distorted to his sometimes soft and understated voice. It took me a while to acclimate to his voice because of the uniqueness but the catchy melodies like in "Well thought out twinkles", "Checkered Floor", "Common Reactor" and "Three seed" will seal the love for this album for anyone. I find that many times music that is typical of what we are accustom to is difficult at first to embrace yet it becomes your favorite album given a chance. This is one of the best albums of 2006 and could be the best in the past 3 years. A snobs dream album. rating:
